Thousands Lay Tefillin

July 12, 2004

It’s tourist season in Europe, and Budapest, Hungary, is a magnet for thousands daily. Many of the tourists to this city are Jewish and come to marvel at Moorish and Byzantine architecture of Europe’s largest synagogue on Dohany Street, built in 1859.

Infusing a spiritual element to their visit, Chabad-Lubavitch rabbinical students are on hand to answer questions about Jewish life, Torah and mitzvot. With their help, Jewish people from around the world will have donned tefillin, possibly for the first time ever, on their visit to Hungary.
